Early Peak at the Cover of BUZZARD!!! AHHH!!!!

Early Peak at the Cover of BUZZARD!!! AHHH!!!!

Today is the day! The day I not only show you the cover of our next publication--Buzzard, but also the day we reveal it to the world! I am going to ask you to keep this to yourself until we officially reveal it on social media in a couple of hours. Ok? Cool! Here you go!

We wanted to keep it simple and engaging, as fits the genre, while also giving it a more artistic/Latine touch. Our hope is that it will fit among other Dystopian books while also standing out enough to draw reader's attention when they are browsing shelves!

I'd love to see your initial reaction in the comments!

I am so grateful to each and every one of you who are a part of this community. You are the reason we get to do this work. You're the reason we get to champion authors and the reason we are able to do it so successfully. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE.

Now that you've seen the cover...

I posted a few days ago inviting you to sign up to be a part of our cover reveal today. And while plenty of you signed up, I would LOVE it if we could boost those numbers now that we are here!

WHY?

Because my goal is to be so extra that we take over BookTok, Bookstagram AND BookThreads today!

The goal is for as many people as possible to post the cover of Buzzard today across all social media platforms. For just one day, we want anyone who gets bookish content whatsoever to be unable to scroll their feed without seeing--and hearing about--this book. But also, I feel its important to note that there are multiple ways to help with this.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP THIS COVER REVEAL HAVE MAXIMUM IMPACT

  1. Obviously, if you post content, the number one way you can help is by joining us and posting the cover today. (If you want to help in this way, there are ideas and graphics down below).

  2. For this to be as successful as possible, it's also very helpful for us to come together and make sure all of this content gets SEEN. Which means engaging with the content you see on your FYP. Drop comments, repost, share things to your story, tag friends and make sure they see it.

  3. Jump onto social media before we post the cover to brag that you've seen the cover and to tell them that they should get ready for the reveal later today. (e.g. I just saw the cover of Buzzard, the next book coming out of Left Unread. Y'all are not ready! Make sure you're paying attention to @michael.laborn in an hour or two).

INFORMATION IF YOU INTEND TO POST THE COVER TODAY...

WE will be posting the cover at 9 am PST/11 am CST/Noon EST.

If you are participating, you are free to post at that time, or any time after then.

(If you post, make sure you tag us: Bindery (bindery_books), Me (Michael.laborn) & Inez (_bigbadbooks_).

Obviously, you know what works best for your content, so post how you see fit! But I want this to be as easy as possible for you. I am grateful that you agreed to post with us and I want that to be as quick and painless as it can be. So I am providing some graphics and basic descriptions of the book here so that, if you want to, you can just copy and paste and move on with your day!

Let’s start with the graphics! I am including the official cover reveal graphic Bindery plans to post, as well as a basic banner that you can add text to if you want to be creative, as well as the cover by itself to use as you see fit in your content. (Keep scrolling for some descriptions/post ideas!

DESCRIPTIONS

I do not expect you to engage with commenters any more than you are comfortable, but for those of you who want to be able to, here is a detailed description for your own understanding:

Buzzard is a near-future dystopian that follows one of the last Midwives in the United States with the necessary training and experience to perform safe abortions. Which she continues to do for her community long after it has become a federal crime. When she is busted and sent to prison, she discovers a pattern of human rights violations and is forced to decide if she will keep her head down in the hope of one day getting her freedom and being reunited with her sons, or leveraging her medical training in order to advocate for the victims no one else even know exist.

Obviously, that is a bit more than you can fit in the average post description, so here are a couple of options that you can copy and paste! (Although don’t feel pressured to use one of these if you would rather write your own description!)

Buzzard follows one of the last midwives in the United States willing and able to perform abortions. When that lands her in prison, she discovers just how far the people at the top will go to silence their victims and protect their own secrets.

Buzzard is a near-future dystopian that confronts readers with the future we are quickly approaching as our elected officials actively gut reproductive rights in our country. It is a call to action reminiscent of some of the greats in the genre.

Here are some ideas for how to frame that post description (if you want suggestions):

Excitement to be participating in the cover reveal (e.g., I am so happy I get to be one of the first people to introduce you to Buzzard, an—insert brief description.)

Pride in helping publish the book (e.g., I couldn’t be more proud of this book. As a member of Left Unread, I’ve been a part of this process from day one and I couldn’t be more excited that it’s finally available to order!)

LINKS

Our team has already submitted the book to be listed with all major retailers, but that process takes time. So far, the paperback and ebook are available on Amazon, but only the ebook is available on Bookshop and Barnes and Noble. Because today is the first day we are listing it, I can’t provide you any indie links yet. If people ask about ordering indie, PLEASE encourage them to ask their local indie to order it for them. They won’t have it listed yet, but we love indie bookstores here and would love to see readers encouraging their local stores to stock the book for them.

If you have affiliate accounts, I encourage you to use them. Get your commission, friend!

If you don’t, here is the link I will be using:

Bookshop: https://bookshop.org/a/87137/9781967967278

When the paperback becomes available on bookshop, the same link will let them purchase that.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I just want to reiterate how much I appreciate you. However and wherever you post, THANK YOU. I truly believe that community is how we push through the barriers that keep marginalized people from having meaningful access. So it means the world to me that you are here today, showing up.

Thank you! And if you have any questions, let me know!!!
